Bemerkungen/Beschreibung

We have been runnig monitoring of birds of prey in National park Gesause are during 12.4  15.4.2012. 2012 year is yet 8th year of continuos monitoring in this area. This year the members of working team were: Ján Kor328;an, Metod Macek, Radovan Re357;kovsk, Blaena Sedláková, Martin Dobrota a Peter Kubk. Main aim is monitoring of the population of Golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) in this area, confirming of presence of breeding pairs in their home range, approving the occupancy of known nests and looking for the new nests and breeding sites. During this year visit the weather was very unsuitable for observation mostly during our whole stay, expect Thursday afternoon. Nearly every day there were rain showers, low clouds and fog. This situation fundamentally worsened the possibility of watching the eagles and finding the nests. The global monitoring program started in 2005 and 2012 is yet 8th year of project realization. During that period we have found 24 nests (from these 17 nests were found as new ones) of Golden eagles and found and monitored 7 pairs of eagles, both in national park area and its close surroundings.
In this year we controlled totaly home range of 6 pairs, and we confirmed 4 pairs presented in their breeding territories. Nests are located by GPS and its coordinates are saved in WGS 84 system.
